Transcript:
An ABN, which stands for Advanced Beneficiary Notice of Non-Coverage, is a form that we provide to traditional Medicare beneficiaries so that they can make good choices, make good financial choices. Because what we’re informing them is, we expect Medicare to not cover the service they’re being seen for.

On June 30th, we are all required to begin using the latest version of the ABN. Medicare released it on January 1st of 2023, but June 30th is the date we are required — in order to be compliant — to use that latest version.

I’m Nancy Johnson, I’m a Provider Advocate and founder of RevUp, we make certain that independent healthcare providers are collecting all the money that they are due.

So remember, if this patient is a Medicare Advantage plan member, you’ll need to call their carrier in order to determine whether or not these services are going to be provided because an ABN does not apply to Medicare Advantage plans.

So I’ve provided some really great resources regarding the ABN and MLN booklet, it’s got a video, you could provide it to your employees, also to patients to give them an excellent explanation of what the ABN is, what it’s for, what it does, what it doesn’t do. And also I’ve given you a link to all the latest versions: English, Spanish, and large print of the latest ABN form.

Take good care!
